Only the AMARIS 'Family' of Excimer Lasers from SCHWIND eye-tech-solutions are able to perform TransPRK.

All other lasers e.g. Alcon Wavelight require at least 2 to 3 separate laser ablations to perfom a similar surgery. They need to ablate the epithelium in the first step, followed by a second ablation to correct the refraction as well as the change in refraction caused by the first laser ablation.

In the past, the removal of the epithelium was uneven and this causes a change in the spectacle refraction. Therefore there was always poor accuracy in this kind of treatment.

The Amaris 1050RS removes the epithelium faster than the 500S by 50%, and the 750S by 40%, and the epithelium and reshaping of the cornea takes about 15 to 45 seconds. Just imagine, your entire operation only lasts 45 seconds! This 45 seconds will change your vision and your life for the better.

The AMARIS 1050RS also has the 7th dimensional eye tracker to guide the laser, giving the 1050RS the utmost precision amongst all the AMARIS lasers. With the speed and accuracy via eye-tracking, the environmental influences on the cornea are reduced to a minimum, creating a platform for greater accuracy and consistency in results. The shorter treatment time also give better comfort for the patient during and after surgery.
